VOLUNTARY AIRPORT LOW EMISSIONS PROGRAM (VALE)
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Airports established the VALE program to help airports improve airport air quality. The program is an important part of the FAA’s commitment to green technology and sustainable airport development. The VALE program provides funding to U.S. commercial service airports located in air quality nonattainment and maintenance areas.
MKE's first VALE project involves gate installation of ground power and preconditioned air units for nine gates on Concourse “E”, reducing the use of diesel-powered carts and aircraft auxiliary power units (APUs), reducing emissions and noise.
